This is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or pull an official booking record. Contact the public office that holds the specific record.
Where to Direct a Request
Start with the type of record and the agency that created it. MRRJ is Brunswick County’s shared regional jail for current custody and jail-created booking material. The arresting agency holds its own report, while the court controls the case record.

For a current MRRJ custody check, use the jail’s Offender Information route. For a records request, ask the correct custodian for an existing record and an actual-cost estimate.
- Use the Brunswick record and custody path for MRRJ roster limits, booking-record requests, and the distinction between local and state custody.
- Use MRRJ FOIA for a jail-created booking or custody record, including an adult booking photograph if maintained and releasable.
- Use the Sheriff’s FOIA process or the relevant town police department for an incident or arrest report made by that agency.
- Use the Virginia case-information system and the appropriate Clerk after a case is filed.
- For a state-custody or community-supervision question, use the VADOC locator; federal and immigration custody use their separate official locators.
